Moura: Crash followed by run over kills chamber employee.

One person died and another was injured, Monday, following the crash of a light vehicle, followed by a collision, in the city of Moura, district of Beja, confirmed source from the Baixo Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.

The same source, the fatal victim is a man, who was run over after the crash. To the Lusa agency, Civil Protection and Public Security Police (PSP) stated that the victim, of 59 year old, was an employee of the Chamber of Moura.

Civil Protection explained that the accident happened when “a van transporting disabled children crashed, next to the secondary school, and ran over a chamber employee, who was working there”.

Also contacted by Lusa, source from the Moura Police Station of the Beja District Command of the PSP stated that the municipal worker had 59 year old, while the light hurt, “at the 50 year old”, it is “the driver of the van” accident and was transported by firefighters to the hospital in Beja.

The vehicle involved in the accident belongs to APPACDM de Moura – Portuguese Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Disabled Citizens, whose president, Luis Raposo, regretted to Lusa today what happened.

“It was an accident, that we regret. At the same time, It's a sad situation, It's a sad day for Moura. An esteemed and well-known person in the city passed away”, said.

The president of the association said that the van “was doing his usual turn” around the city and transported “seven or eight users” for the institution, when the accident happened.

“It is suspected that the driver may have had a health problem, looks like he fainted. That is why, is that the misdirection will have occurred”, in which the vehicle “hit and broke the bars and ended up inside the secondary school”, continued.

LuĂ­s Raposo also indicated that, after the accident, “the majority of users were taken to the institution, but one or two, For precaution, went to the Health Center”.

“There were small scratches and wounds. And they're all excited, they are special kids, but let's see if, with the help of techniques, everything becomes normal for them”, said.

The alert for the accident was given at 8:42 am.

This incident involved the mobilization of 23 operational, supported by 10 Car, including firefighters, PSP and National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), who sent the emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER) Beja.
