The case involved a computer engineer from the Municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, who was sentenced to 2 years in prison and the payment of 1.000 euros to the firefighters in his hometown and who did not appeal against the decision of the Court of Beja.
The Court of Évora Relationship (THREE) rejected in the past day 8 November, a request for clarification formulated in defense of the decision of that collective to maintain the penalties applied in the first instance applied to ANO-Sistemas de Informática, Lda., headquartered in Porto, and to Manuel Amorim, resident in Famalicão, managing partner of the said company, in the case of paid travel to Turkey in April 2015.
In 27 of September, the Judges of the TRE “dismissed” the appeals presented by the defendants dissatisfied with the sentences applied, in June 2021, by the Collective of Judges of the Court of Beja, in what was the first conviction in the many processes that run in other districts.
Now the defense of the defendants, represented by the lawyer Sílvio Cervan who thus suffers the third defeat in this process, wanted the TRE to explain the reasons that led to confirm the sentences applied by the First Instance in the Central Criminal Court of Beja.
Manuel Amorim, managing partner of the company ANO-Sistemas de Informática, Lda., He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of prison sentence, suspended in its execution and the payment of 2.000 euros to a Fire Department in the area of residence. For failing to read the judgment, he was also sentenced to a fine of two units of account, total no 204 euros. In turn, ANO was sentenced to a sentence of 100 days of the fine 150 euros / day, in total 15.000 euros.
Amorim and the company were convicted of the crimes of receiving undue advantage, for having paid for a trip to Turkey for Nuno Mourinho, computer engineer at Ferreira do Alentejo City Council, who was sentenced to 2 years in prison and the payment of 1.000 euros to the firefighters in your hometown.
Nuno Mourinho, the defendant accused and convicted as the author of the undue receipt of advantage, did not appeal the prison sentence and the fine to which he was sentenced. In the Municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, the internal disciplinary process has not yet had any development, since, according to the mayor, “everything is the same. The chamber has not yet been notified by the court.”, justified Luís Pita Plum, so the Executive did not decide the employee's future.
