Vidigueira: Franganito sentenced to six years in “cage” for home thefts.


Alberto Franganito, of 55 year old, resident in Vidigueira, man with a life linked to the world of crime, was yesterday sentenced in the Court of Beja, in legal height, to a penalty of 6 years in prison.

At stake were three crimes of theft and one of possession of a prohibited weapon., repeatedly. He was also ordered to pay the sum of 1.773,80 euros as compensation to one of the victims of the thefts.

Parcelally, the individual was convicted of a felony theft committed to 4 years in prison, on the other tempted to 2 year old, for a simple theft 1 year and 3 months and a crime of possession of a prohibited weapon to 9 months in prison.

From your entrance into the courtroom, the defendant had an aggressive and ironic behavior, not getting up when the Public Prosecutor and the president of the Panel of Judges entered the same. When the magistrate began to read the feathers, in an air of contempt, the individual turned his back on the judge, what led to being warned, that “if he maintained his posture, he would be thrown out of the room”.

The defendant had served a sentence of 11 years in prison, having been in seclusion until 28 April 2020, but still on parole, he returned to thefts in residences and commercial establishments in Vidigueira, was arrested in flagrante delicto inside a cafe by GNR soldiers.

In a house where he entered, the defendant took goods and money worth 5.650 euros.

Alberto Franganito is in preventive detention at the Beja Prison, coercive measure that was maintained by the Panel of Judges until the sentence became final.
