The Territorial Command Beja, through the Territorial Post of Vidigueira, yesterday, day 11 January, detained eight men and three women, aged between 16 and 43 year old, of olive theft, in the Vidigueira municipality.
As part of a report of olive theft, by the land owner, the Guard military carried out several police measures that allowed the suspects to be located and intercepted while they were harvesting.
In the course of the action, it was possible to learn the following material: 680 kilos of olives; Three passenger vehicles and various harvest-related material.
The suspects were arrested and the facts were reported to the Cuban Judicial Court.
It should be remembered that in the balance sheet of Operation Campo Seguro 2023 a National Republican Guard, revealed that since the day 26 of June and until the day 31 December 2023, had recovered in the district of Beja 39.719 kilograms of olive penthouse. During the operation, the GNR detained 122 people and identifying others 299 mostly for crimes of theft on farms, the overwhelming majority in the district of Beja.

In total operation, which involved military personnel from the Territorial Posts, Investigation and Rapid Intervention by CTBeja and Setúbal Territorial Command, They were learned 9 982 kilograms of olive penthouse, identified 150 people and 40 vehicles linked to illegal acts of “olive picking on third party properties”, justified the Guard, who also created 80 administrative offense notices under the Highway Code.
