Vidigueira: Cooperation protocol between the Navy and the City.
Between the Navy and the Vidigueira municipality was celebrated, a 11 January, a cooperation protocol under the dissemination and promotion of heritage and cultural activity and scientific.
The signed agreement aims at the installation, in Vidigueira, a Permanent Exhibition on D. Vasco da Gama and the implementation of other museums and cultural activities that have as their theme the culture and maritime history.
In signing the protocol, the Vidigueira municipality was represented by Mayor, Rui Raposo, and the Navy was represented by the Director of the Cultural Commission of Navy, Rear Admiral John Valente dos Santos, by appointment of Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy.
The public disclosure of this thematic exhibition implies the dissemination of scientific and educational component to the various audiences and age groups, by editing publications, colloquia, speeches, concerts and other leisure and recreational activities, that provide the visitor / user contact and knowledge with other realities and cultures, that the Portuguese discoveries opened the world.
The Marine, in the field of historical and cultural heritage's mission, through the Navy Museum, ensure the preservation and exhibition of objects of historical value, artistic and documentary heritage of the Navy, or entrusted to their care, constituting the maritime past of the Portuguese documents and the services it provides to civilization and progress of mankind.
Given the strong link between the picture D. Vasco da Gama and the municipality of Vidigueira, the responsibility of the Municipality of Vidigueira preserve and enhance all brands and moments of the passage and permanence of this illustrious historical figure in its territorial space, through various cultural activities for keeping alive his memory.
