A group of workers from the Municipality of Vidigueira began at 20,00 hours of Monday, a protest vigil against elected officials and leaders of the autarchy, which ends this Tuesday morning at 11,30 hours.
The protest has the support of leaders of the Public Administration Workers Union (SINTAP) and spent the night in half a dozen tents set up in Praça da República, in front of the Paços do Concelho building, and aims to “report situations of persecution, moral harassment and psychological violence, promoted by elected officials and heads of the municipality”, by Joaquim Grácio, coordinator of the Alentejo Regional Section of SINTAP.
The union leader justified that “the persecutions”, to SINTAP workers and managers, have become constant, with unfounded disciplinary processes cooked up with management”, finished.
SINTAP accuses the CDU-led authority of “trying to remove the union”, adding Joaquim Grácio that “fear prevails and workers are afraid of the disciplinary processes raised”, demanding an end to persecution.
In a statement issued on its website, the Vidigueira City Council ensures that “we comply with and implement the measures resulting from the fair struggle of workers, with the same vehemence, and no exceptions, we comply and enforce, no legal framework, the obligations to which they are subject”, justify.
The municipality “reiterates its total and permanent openness to dialogue, continue to fight for the defense and appreciation of all employees of the municipality”, ends.
