After the attacks, the victim did not file a complaint against the attacker.. The couple, with different addresses, was responsible for the wave of bicycle thefts in Beja that were delivered to receivers who sold them in stores in Lisbon.
The Attorney General's Office (PGR) ordered the opening of an investigation to investigate the events that occurred in the early hours of the day 27 August, in Grândola, in which a man was filmed kicking a woman, video that was sent to the Public Ministry of that location.
In response to questions from Lidador NotĂcias (LN), the PGR confirmed the “initiation of an investigation related to the matter in question. The same is under investigation in the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) from Grândola”, justified.
According to the video shared on social media, the individual, of 35 year old, was filmed violently kicking his partner 30 year old, then leaving the place in his vehicle, which was parked close to the space where the attacks occurred, having left the driver's door open and the engine running.
The GNR of Grândola was alerted to the occurrence around 03,00 in the early hours of Sunday morning and upon arriving at the location, found the victim unconscious, who was transported to the Hospital do Litoral Alentejano, in Santiago do Cacém and, then transferred to Beja Hospital, from where he was discharged on the afternoon of the day the attacks were committed, no complaints of assault or domestic violence were formalized.
Initial news reported that the couple would reside in Cuba, no Beja district, but the couple’s usual whereabouts are not known as they have “uncertain residence”. At the time, a source from the Beja Territorial Command of the GNR confirmed that “no request for identification of the detention of an individual linked to the Grândola case was received”.
Bicycles were stolen in Beja and sold by receivers in Lisbon
According to information from the Public Security Police (PSP) Beja, the couple is linked to the theft of bicycles from homes, in Beja, later sold in Lisbon, by recipients who owned bicycle sales stores, case that was revealed by the District Command (CD) from PSP last day 12 April.
Not shown, the PSP CD revealed that the arrest, in flagrante delicto, of the individual who “stole eleven bicycles from garages and storerooms”, adding that after the thefts “they arrive at specialized commercial establishments in Lisbon”, locality where the defendant lived at the time.
The PSP revealed that the individual worked together with a woman if 30 year old, the partner attacked in Grândola, which was also constituted as a defendant and another accomplice of 31 year old, having a network of contacts with recipients, linked to bicycle shops, who put them up for sale as second-hand. A passenger vehicle in which the defendant was transporting the stolen bicycles was seized..
