Back to Alentejo: “El Chispas” repeated last year’s triumph in Grândola.


Venezuelan Leangel Liñarez (Tavfer/Ovos Matinado/Mortagua) he will never forget Grândola as the place in Alentejo where he achieved two of the most delicious triumphs of his professional career.

It was the first victory of the season, the eighth in his career that began in Portugal in 2019, always running for the Mortágua team and the second consecutive time in Grândola, repeating the triumph of 2023 and in the same location.

The shooting was marked by an escape, started by the kilometer 10, comprising four runners and who had the maximum advantage of 2’45” in Canhestros, Ferreira do Alentejo county, traveled 105 kilometers.

On the run was Julen Amezqueta (Illes Baleares/Arabay Cycling) that in general he was 31” behind the leader and that he was a danger for the yellow jersey, hence Caja Rural/Seguros RGA, allowed it to leave Thomas Silva's body.

The fugitives were at the front of the race and were caught on the way up to Serra de Grândola, a dozen kilometers from the end of the race.. After the Spanish team, it was Tavfer/Ovos Matinados/Mortágua to take control for the triumph of “El Chispas” in Grândola.

On a long and wide straight, the Venezuelan beat all the competition, where Daniel Babor and Iuri Leitão were in the front seats, the yellow jersey's companions.

Lenagel Linarez explained that “it is an excellent arrival, the team worked well and was happy again in Grândola”, concluded.

Yellow jersey Thomas Silva was satisfied “with the control of the team and the focus on sprinters, to maintain leadership. Tomorrow is another arrival in a compact peloton”, finished.

This Friday the third round will be played, the so-called “Alqueva Stage”, with departure from Mourão (11h20) and arrival at Reguengos de Monsaraz (15h36), with two passes through Alto de Monsaraz and one through Serra d’Ossa.
