Badajoz: Airport already makes flights to destinations such as Madrid and Barcelona. Beja is parking.

The airport in the neighboring Spanish city of Badajoz has returned to normal operation since last day 18 February, after a new tender to explore the concession, with trips between Badajoz, Madrid e Barcelona.

regular flights, with origin and destination to these cities, had been interrupted since August of 2015, but the Air Nostrum concessionaire won the tender launched by the Junta da Extremadura, thus enabling the return of routes to the two main Spanish cities, contributing to the fight against isolation in the region of Extremadura. For the summer season, the introduction of connections to the Balearic Islands is planned..
The Air Nostrum Company, beyond the spanish audience, is also committed to attracting Portuguese customers, namely those who live in our region., due to proximity, as is the case of Campo Maior and Elvas.
Like the airport in Beja, Badajoz infrastructure, shares the runways and control tower of the Spanish Air Force air base (Spanish Air Force), from Talavera la Real. The civil terminal and the air base are, just like in Beja, separated by a clue, thus differentiating the two installations.
According to AENA data (corresponding to ANA-Airports), in 2007 the airport of Badajoz, set your passenger record, with 91.789 people.
While in Badajoz the airport receives and transports passengers, in Beja, a “new phase of life” from the airport, included in ANA-Aeroportos de Portugal's strategy to “promote the use for medium and long-term parking” of the infrastructure, is to receive empty planes to park on the board.

Upon the announcement made by the president of Hi Fly, Paulo Mirpuri, the airport of Beja will be used as the company's "turntable for the route between contracts", for parking and maintenance, defining the agreement reached as "very positive".

According to a work published by the newspaper Diário de Notícias (DN), in 12 March 2013, “in operation for two years, Beja airport, that cost 33 million, sued 5.044 passengers, considered movement “positive” by ANA, despite only predicting traffic volumes “interesting” as of 2017/2018″.

DN added that “since it started operating, a 13 April 2011, Beja airport, realized, through seven airlines, 160 aircraft movements, between landings and take-offs, and 110 of operations “charter” of passengers, 48 of private/executive flights and two of air cargo”.
