Beja: Airbus A380, the largest aircraft in the world passengers have landed.


The first Airbus A380 of the Portuguese airline Hi Fly landed on Portuguese soil, on the afternoon of Monday, in Beja airport, Alentejo.

The landing took place without any problem, but only the second round, after a flyby of “salutation” to the airport, Beja to Alentejo.

Around the track were hundreds of people waiting who is the largest aircraft in the world, performing, thus, a historic moment and turn the page to the airport and the region.

Besides, landing this plane also demonstrates the ability of the reserve runway at Beja Airport, It has sufficient width and length to allow this Airbus lands and park and will serve for any emergency.

The arrival, were two vehicles of the Fire Department of the Portuguese Air Force named the plane with water jets.

The double-decker will be fitted with Rolls Royce Trent engines 900 and will be able to 471 passengers are three classes. The lower floor is entirely dedicated to economy class, carrying a total of 399 passengers, while the top floor will have business class seats and first class, supporting 60 and 12 passengers.

The plane was painted with the designs of a campaign for the protection of coral reefs.

O Airbus A380 – that can not land on any other national airport – will be in Beja for five days, that will be of institutional visits and training of the Hi Fly crew.
