Beja: Man mocked in 2070 euros with false appeal on facebook.

“Mother” asked for help to starve the daughter, was a con man, resident in Ponta Delgada (Azores) that tricked you via MBWay.

Impersonating a woman, with a small daughter and no money to feed her, through the social network facebook messenger, “Asked for help to buy food” translated into sending 10 euros. A good Samaritan “helped” and ran out 2.070 euros that had in the account.

Kindness, “Carlos” (fictitious name), 66 year old, reformed, believed in the story and transferred the money via ATM, by the MB Way application, through your cell phone number to the “woman” account associated with your cell phone number.

In possession of the victim's data, the defendant quickly accessed his bank account and, in five movements 2.070 euros, leaving the same accounting zero. Not to arouse suspicion, two transfers of 750 euros each and three of lower values, 500, 50 and 20 euros. It was only a few days later when he went to the ATM to check the account that the victim realized he had been duped.

According to the indictment order of the public prosecutor (MP) from Beja to which JN had access, the case occurred on the day 2 November 2018, when Bruno Pereira, then with 25 year old, resident in Ponta Delgada (Azores), contacted “Carlos”, resident in Beja and told a story so touching that it led him to mistake. “It was not more money because it was the orderly account I used before the renovation”, revealed the victim to the Lidador News (LN).

The offender filed a complaint with the PSP, having the process transferred to the PJ of Faro, who was in charge of the investigation. Four or five months later he was called to the MP of Beja to make statements. Last day 11 January received notification of the trial appointment. “I already remembered the subject. Only the letter from the court reminded me of that blunder, ”he said in disbelief..

Bruno Pereira is accused of the crimes of computer fraud and illegitimate access and as each crime carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison, the MP is of the opinion that the sentence is not expected to exceed five years, whereby the accused will be tried using a single court in the Criminal Court of Beja.
