Beja: no obstetrician hospital ER. Pregnant missed.
The Emergency Department of the Hospital is Beja 24 hours without obstetrician in ER. Pregnant women will be sent to Évora. It is the fourth time this has happened this year.
The lack of doctors in the ER (HIS) Gynecology / Obstetrics Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja, causes for 24 hours, the period between 08,00 hours Sunday and 08,00 hours of tomorrow (Monday), pregnant women have to resort, by own means, to the Holy Spirit Hospital services, Evora, having to go over 80 kilometers without any medical assistance.
The case was known yesterday at 22,23 hours, in a statement the District Command Relief Operations (CDOS) Beja, that realized the information provided by the Board of Directors of Local Health Unit of the Lower Alentejo (ULSBA), chaired by Conceição Margalha.
At issue is the fact that the ULSBA failing to appoint a second physician OB / GYN for SU, which runs on the 5th floor of the Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, which leads to the impracticability of care of pregnant women.
According to the statement released by CDOS, "The ULSBA, shall transfer the users availing the Obstetrics ER ", not being accepted enrollment of pregnant women, or any pre-ups will be made (screening) to determine their state of pregnancy. As in previous situations will be communicated to the woman or family, that will have to resort by their means to another hospital and the closer will be the Evora Hospital. Other hospitals that mothers may use will be Setubal, Faro and Portimão.
This is the fourth time that this situation occurs in the Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, since in the end-of-week 5 and 6 January, 2 March and 12 April was the same situation, It was sometimes "remedied intermittently" for a few hours with the doctor in attendance, for the care of patients admitted to the Obstetrics Service, which runs on the 5th floor Beja Hospital.
