GNR: CTBeja Intervention Detachment Has New Commander.

Captain Nuno Afonso is the new commander of the Intervention Detachment (OF) do Comando Territorial de Beja da GNR. He has already commanded the Transit and Territorial Detachments of Beja.

The officer replaces Lieutenant Rui Pinto in his position, who commanded the DI replacing captain Hugo Monteiro who is attending a course at Escola da Guarda, continuing to accumulate with command of the Logistics and Financial Resources and Human Resources and Justice Sections.

The Beja Territorial Command Intervention Detachment (CTBeja) it's composed by 17 elements, 12 of the intervention platoon, 2 of the cinotécnica and the two officers previously mentioned. In the case of Lieutenant Pinto, in addition to being the assistant to the DI commander,, accumulates with the position of Public Relations Officer.

The new DI commander already commanded the Transit Detachment, first as a lieutenant and then as a captain, and was also commander of the Beja Territorial Detachment, having left the operational street service with the transition to the Logistics and Financial Resources and Human Resources and Justice Sections.

In the corridors of the former Colégio dos Jesuítas/Colégio de São Francisco Xavier, Captain Afonso's new mission is commented as “the return of an operative to his field. It was full of holes”, being interpreted as a decision by the newly arrived commander of CTBeja, Lieutenant Colonel Galvão da Silva, born in Vidigueira and former 2nd commander of the unit, who knows many of the members of the staff.

It should be noted that the Intervention Detachment is especially dedicated to the missions of maintaining and restoring public order, critical incident resolution and management, tactical intervention in situations of concerted and highly dangerous violence, complexity and risk, security of sensitive facilities and large events, inactivation of explosives, and preparation and projection of forces for international missions.
